About ART® - Active Release Techniques®
ART® is a fast, effective and non-invasive way to heal a wide variety of soft tissue injuries. This patented, state of the art technique combines deep soft tissue massage with simultaneous movement to diagnose and treat soft tissue injuries. ART® has been proven to alleviate many chronic conditions and acute injuries. Following are just a few examples of injuries that can be completely relieved by ART®:

How It Works
ART® works by treating the underlying cause of the injury, employing a combination of pressure, tension, and motion to reduce scar tissue buildup (often the source of the pain or condition). The doctor uses his hands to separate and stretch out areas where scar tissue has accumulated. The release that comes as a result in turn increases your range of motion, flexibility and strength.
ART® treatments are based upon and tailored to your individual needs and condition. More than 500 moves specific to ART® combine directed pressure with specific movements. Every visit has an element of treatment and diagnosis, where the condition is both assessed and treated via the doctor’s application of the movements.
Active Release has proven especially valuable for athletes, from the professional to the beginner. Athletes with acute or long-standing muscular strain/sprain injuries frequently experience complete recovery in a surprisingly short period of time.
Each of these factors can cause your body to produce tough, dense scar tissue in the affected area. This scar tissue binds up and ties down tissues that need to move freely. As scar tissue builds up, muscles become shorter and weaker, tension on tendons causes’ tendonitis, and nerves can become trapped. This can cause reduced range of motion, loss of strength, and pain. If a nerve is trapped you may also feel tingling, numbness, and weakne ss.
Rapid and Enduring Recovery
Many patients experience complete recovery after only 5–10 visits. Because of the combination of movement with pressure, ART® succeeds where other treatments have failed. This aligns precisely with ChiroPlus’ philosophy of treatment that is time-efficient, cost-effective and, most importantly, enduring, so that the patient’s recovery means their self-sufficiency.
